Our 2025-2026 season includes the following productions:
Feast
by Megan Gogerty
directed by Allison Vincent
performed by Isabel Nelson
Feb 27 – Mar 29, 2026
at Black Forest Inn
Enter the hall of the nameless Sea-Hag, mother of Grendel. She slew her ancient enemies, but it wasn’t enough. It’s never enough. Still she hungers for retribution. Now, shocked by the strongmen of our modern world, she contemplates a new threat: the ultra-rich. When the seductive power of violence beckons, how do you distinguish between justice and revenge? Perhaps if we share a meal together, we can learn to trust each other. Perhaps we can find salvation.
Experience this fierce, one-woman theatrical event with an actual feast curated by the Black Forest Inn! Get ready to dig in. (Show-only tickets are also available.)
Beowulf
adapted by Charlie Bethel
performed by John Heimbuch
directed by Amy Rummenie
Feb 28 – Mar 28, 2026
at Black Forest Inn
A one-hour, one-performer tour de force! This faithful and accessible adaptation of the classic Old English poem about a warrior king and some famous monsters modernizes the wit, vigor, and meaty language of the original Anglo-Saxon epic.
Our production of Feast was inspired, in part, by the story of Beowulf. While you don’t need to know Beowulf to attend Feast, it’s a unique opportunity to see them both together! On Saturdays, come to Beowulf and stay for Feast!
Fair State
written and performed by Megan Gogerty
Apr 9 – 12, 2026
at Black Forest Inn
From the playwright of Feast! When comedian Megan loses her charming, unreliable, alcoholic father, she unearths evidence of her family’s ancestral ties to the founding of the state of Iowa. Were they hearty immigrants making a new life on the frontier? Or a collection of self-satisfied boot-strappers complicit in destruction and erasure? (Why choose?)
As she examines Iowa’s past, she lays bare the secrets that haunt her and her sisters. What do we do with our problematic relatives? With our problematic history? We tell the truth.
Perfect Arrangement
by Topher Payne
directed by John Heimbuch
May 30 – June 21, 2026
at Crane Theater
It’s 1950, and the government is purging the “enemies within”. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have a great track record of rooting out Communists. Now, they’ve been tasked with identifying sexual deviants among their ranks. There’s just one problem: Both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover.
Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement, madcap classic sitcom-style laughs give way to provocative drama as two “All-American” couples are forced to stare down the closet door.
Zerolands – a play with puzzles
by Liz Hara, John Heimbuch and David Pisa
Coming soon!
The Zerolands: a fictional dimension of adventure and whimsy, where memories rise up like fireflies. T. I. Nilson’s beloved novel is considered the birth of dimension-jumping children’s literature. Join a passionate college professor who discovers that the book’s surreal landscape may hold secrets more profound than the brightest scholars have yet conceived. Are you ready to journey through the Zerolands?
Zerolands is a cross between theater and escape room. It is a live, scripted performance with actors; it’s also an immersive, interactive experience where the small audience is the hero, exploring a detailed environment and solving large-scale, hands-on puzzles.

A Note on Season Tickets
Thank you to all our past season subscribers! We’ve opted not to offer a season ticket package this year. Due to some shows’ small capacity and customized options, it’s better all around if you would kindly make individual reservations for each show.
