Your host is the nemesis of your forefathers, the sea-hag, the bog-witch, mother of Grendel, an ancient magickal creature in the form of a middle-aged lady, thirsting for revenge.
Experience this fierce one-woman theatrical event where mythology crashes into modern society during an actual feast, with food and drink curated by the Black Forest Inn (show-only tickets also available)! Get ready to dig in.
What sins can be pardoned? Do you trust your leaders? When is violence justified? How long has it been since you’ve been touched?
Come together in a ceremony of shared sustenance to experience the sensations of being alive again. Savor the ritual of eating, find hope, and learn who will get their just deserts.

Runtime
Feast and Beowulf each run approximately 60 minutes without intermission once the performance begins.

The Black Forest Inn is located at the southeast corner of Nicollet Ave and 26th Street.
All performances will be in the meeting room, which has a separate street entrance about 100 feet east on 26th Street, just past the courtyard.
Free parking is available in the Black Forest lot, south of the restaurant on Nicollet Avenue. Free street parking is also available in the area.
Metro Transit bus routes 11 and 18 run within a few blocks of the venue.
Content Warnings
Feast contains overt references to sex and violence, and mild profanity.
Beowulf contains descriptions of fantasy violence and gore.

Covid Policy
Proof of vaccination is required, due to proximity with other patrons during dinner.
Masking is encouraged when not eating & drinking.
Accessibility
The Black Forest Inn is fully wheelchair accessible. The bathrooms are ADA compliant. Please let us know about any special seating requirements or accommodations.

Dinner:
Dinner patrons arrive at 6:15pm for a meal that has been specially created by the Black Forest Inn, with three entrée choices that aren’t on their regular menu:
- Meal 1: Pork Ribs (on the bone) and Sauerkraut (Gluten Free meal)
- Meal 2: Root Veggie Pot Pie (Vegetarian, but not Vegan)
- Meal 3: Chicken Paprikash (on the bone) and spätzel
All dinners come with soup (vegetarian), bread, and one non-alcoholic beverage. No substitutions.
Alcohol is available for a separate charge for all patrons 21+, including patrons who select the show-only ticket.
Show-only Option:
A limited number of show-only seats are available.
Show-only patrons arrive at 7:15pm, near the end of dinner, in time for the performance.
Show-only patrons are welcome to purchase beverages at the bar before the show.

Feast has connections to the story of Beowulf. While you don’t need to know Beowulf to attend Feast, it might be fun to see them both!

In conjunction with Feast, Walking Shadow Artistic Director John Heimbuch is performing Charlie Bethel’s stunning one-person version of Beowulf on select Saturdays.
This vibrant and modern retelling of the classic Old English poem about a warrior king and his fight with Grendel, the monster’s mother, and a fearsome dragon. Charlie Bethel’s version embodies the wit and vigor of the original Anglo-Saxon epic. Come hear the tale as it’s meant to be heard!
